Vegan Omega-3 Recipes

Vegans, raw food enthusiasts and chefs all enjoy flax oil for its numerous health benefits, versatility and delicious, nutty flavor. Plus, flax oil is a great source of ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) the plant-based "parent" Omega-3 that the body converts to EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Lighten up your dinner menu with these delicious and nutritious, vegan recipes featuring our world famous flax oil.


Corn on the Cob with Spicy Flax Sauce

  • 1/2 tsp pressed fresh garlic or 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • Dash of cayenne
  • 2 Tbsp Barlean’s Organic Flax Oil
  • 6 ears of corn

Directions: Combine garlic, spices and flax oil. Grill, steam, or boil corn until just cooked. Brush with spicy flax sauce and salt to taste.


Healthy & Refreshing End-of-Summer Gazpacho

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 large cloves garlic,crushed
  • 1 can tomatoes (28 oz.)
  • 3 Tbsp Barlean’s Organic Flax Oil
  • 2 tsp red wine vinegar
  • 1-1/2 tsp salt
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 small green or red pepper
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh chives
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh mint
  • Croutons & sprig of thyme to top

Directions: Place onion, garlic, tomatoes, flax oil, vinegar, salt and pepper in a blender or food processor and purée. Refrigerate 2 hours. Just before serving, peel the cucumber and remove the seeds from the bell pepper. Chop both into very small pieces and stir into the soup, along with freshly chopped herbs. Ladle into individual bowls and top with croutons and thyme. Serves 4.


Omega-3 Green Pea Guacamole

  • Omega-3 Green Pea Guacamole
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen green peas
  • 1/4 cup water (from steaming the peas)
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeds removed
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp (packed) chopped fresh cilantro
  • 3 Tbsp Barlean’s Organic Flax Oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • Dash of ground cumin & dash of salt

Directions: In a small pan of water, steam peas for 3 minutes until tender. Drain, reserving 1/4 cup of the steaming water. Place the peas and 1/4 cup steaming water in a blender or food processor and purée. Add remaining ingredients and purée to a thick, even consistency.
