Cooking with Flaxseed: Easy Ways To Incorporate Flaxseed Into Your Diet

Many health-conscious, even semi-health-conscious consumers have heard for years that flaxseed has various health benefits and is a great way to get more fiber, omegas and nutrition in your diet. But outside of a smoothie, it can be hard to think of ways to incorporate it into your diet. Maybe you’re concerned about texture or taste, but the recipes and inspiration below will hopefully put that to rest and create a habit in your lifestyle of getting your body maximum flaxseed benefits. Plus, our Forti-Flax is a ground flaxseed so it is more like a meal and easier to toss into a variety of dishes.

No-Bake Energy Bites from Chef Savvy
⅔ cup peanut butter
½ cup ground Barlean’s Organic Forti-Flax Flaxseed
1 cup old fashioned oats
2 tbsp. honey
½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-Combine all 5 ingredients in a medium bowl. Stir to combine. Place in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes so they are easier to roll.
-Roll into 12 bites and store in the fridge for up to one week. Serves 12
Hearty Oatmeal
½ cup old fashioned oats
1 ½ cup water
2 tbsp. Barlean’s Organic Forti-Flax Flaxseed
1 tbsp. peanut butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
Optional: 1 scoop of protein powder
1 tsp. honey
Fresh fruit
-Combine oats, water, flaxseed, cinnamon, and optional protein powder into a bowl and stir. Microwave for 2 minutes on high. Stir in peanut butter. Top with fresh fruit and drizzle with honey. Serves 1
